Uses of the Natural Patterns

In applying on glass and titanium (instead of wood), we have succeeded in creating organic designs that emphasize lacquer’s special natural qualities. This design material is the “natural patterns”. There are 6 patterns that can be combined, can be used with foiling to create several designs. As a completely new design material, natural patterns can provide unique ideas and have many possibilities for use.

Sprinkle

The word “sprinkle” has long been used with the intention of “awakening the energy of goods and spirits”. The act of shaking Urushi chips to make them to fall is full of energy. The timing involved in shaking these chips influences the repelling action that occurs on the surface, and creates this unique pattern.

Bark

Urushi is derived from delicate trees, oozed out in defense in response to being slashed or damaged. When Urushi is dried slowly, it reveals a tree bark-like pattern, as if ingrained in some part of its memory.

Crystal

Urushi is applied as thinly as possible on glass, in order to set silver foil to the surface. The pulling action between the Urushi and the foil results in a crystal-like pattern. The results will vary by the thickness of the foil, and will also be influenced by the weather.

Crack

In the later half of the Edo Period, Hibi Nuri, or crack- lacquering, was one of the popular lacquering techniques applied on sheaths of swords. There were black cracks on the black surfaces, as well as red cracks on black surfaces. Today, while adopting an earlier decorative style, the results are better controlled through the use of processed data and manipulated methods.

Ripple

When Urushi tree bark is slashed, it oozes whitish sap. That is “Urushi”. Though it is rich in viscosity, it allows for capillary effect to occur, and will tend to seep into narrow cracks.

Split

The pattern is made by the pulling movement between Urushi and silver foil, method adopted from Hibi Nuri lacquering from the late Edo Period. The size of splits back then were larger, with each placed about 5mm apart. Nowadays, the drying condition is processed into data so that the size of split can be controlled. The massive pattern requires a month for drying.

Reversible material to cast the metallic brightness

The consummation of the “splits” makes materials to have metallic brightness with red, green, blue and pink. When it is used for reversible pattern, the each side has different countenance much brightly or more classically like as different creation.

Harmonized space to handle lights

Through the Natural “Rhus” pattern it is possible to combine 6 patterns as you wish. You can create infinite original atmospheres according to your preference and to you artworks. Needless to say, that your creation with our products will match to any artistic spaces.

Natural Pattern Panels
Natural Lacquer×Glass = Panels with beautifulnatural patterns and transparency By combining light to this formula, the space can be enhanced. This decorative material can be applied to walls, floors, ceilings, stairs, fixtures and fittings, and can provide potential for new ideas. Rhus lacquer has a character to reduce the conduction of temperature and to adjust the lightening, so it makes to provide comfortable atmospheres by soften sunbeams like shining through branches of trees for public spaces as elevator, sun room etc.

Titanium×Lacquer interior finishing material

Titanium lacquer
Natural lacquer×titanium = new material that blend the individual qualities of the two and create unique function. Application to the maki-e technique heightens the artistic quality. Natural lacquer×titanium is, two common materialness create depth and smoothness, and give the viewer a mysterious and unique experience. Particularly the mirror surfaces give a sense of transparency and depth like what one might encounter being in a water tank. Also the fact that the application of a base coat is not necessary, that it is light in weight, non-condensing, and prevents mold make this material very ideal in terms of maintenance and application. May it be for an office space or a public facility, or a simple counter or a partitioning, the relatively simple construction yields a non-oppressive, yet symbolic element to the furnishings.

Light Panel

Wall panels that manipulate light
Natural Pattern panels can create various ambiance depending on the combination of the light. The panels create various expressions depending on the various movement of sunlight throughout the day With fixture lighting, depending on the type and color of the light source, the natural patterns may look more pronounced or may become invisible: the light manipulates the lacquer in this way. Through careful control, intended ambiance can be created, and alter the space completely. On the wall, glass doors, and tabletops, this material can be used in various instances. In addition, when applied in glass-walled spaces that has a lot of light (such as the sunroom), lacquer’s natural ingredient absorbs the UV rays, thus permitting less harmful rays for people.

Mosaic Tiles Natural Pattern tiles

The natural patterns can be applied to tiles to be used decoratively. There are various sizes (100 x 100 mm; 200 x 200 mm; 300 x 300 mm) and can be used easily and in small quantities. As accents in the bathroom and in the kitchen, on tables and low cabinets, or laid on floors and stairs, with the combination of light, many exciting ways are made possible. By using one or by combining a number, these tiles can also be framed to make an artwork.

Partitions

Partition made by placing two Natural Pattern panels back to back (900 x 1780 mm) By placing two panels with different designs on the back of each other, a transparent, reversible design can be created. This particular size does not compartmentalize the room, but rather lends to the richness of the space.
